Nervous? Anxious?

Many clients seek therapy because they have anxiety and they want relief.  They just don't want those "bad" feelings any more.  They just want to feel better.

What is anxiety? Where does it come from?  Why do people experience it?

Not all anxiety is bad.  Sometimes it motivates people. Sometimes people use it in their profession.  For example, is someone is anxious it might motivate them to clean the house and get things done.  Another person may use it in their job.  Because of their anxious energy they can multi task, work with a lot of customers, get lots of projects done, etc.

However, when it doesn't feel good and it's making your life worse, that is when you want to change things up.

A therapist can teach you positive coping strategies.  For example, positive self talk, refocusing your thoughts, meditation, exercise, etc.  Sometimes people need medication combined with therapy (but that is not always the case).  Most cases of anxiety can be treated with talk therapy that is combined with techniques.

Being Inspired.... But in Vegas???

Where do you get your inspiration?

There are many things and people that inspire me.  I love getting inspiration from none other than Facebook.  I belong to all of these groups that post quotes, stories and pictures about the law of attraction, running, spirituality, etc.  I get inspired by my clients.  I learn from them all the time.  People bare their soul and inner most thoughts and feelings with me. I treasure their trust  in me and willingness to work hard on themselves and overcome their roadblocks.

But this week, I am getting my inspiration from some place else.  This week is my time to refill my bucket.  I am in Las Vegas with my dear friend.  We are going to play for a few days (spa, gamble, dinner/show, etc.).  Then at the end of the week we will be scrapbooking for three days straight from morning to night!  We will be with 300+ other scrapbookers with amazing inspirational teachers.  The instructors here are the top teachers, but they do so much more.  They share a piece of themselves and encourage everyone to be the best person that they can be.

So yeah, believe it or not, My inspiration this week is all taking place in Vegas baby!

Do What you Love to Do!

I never, ever, ever thought of myself as a runner.  When I was in high school I would run around my block for exercise.  I was not a very good runner when I played Field Hockey (hence, I was always put on defense).  Just about a year ago I started running..... What a life changer!!  This week I went at 6 am, the sun wasn't up yet, the roads were quite and the beautiful moon was still out.  During my run I turned my life and my purpose over to the universe.  I felt incredible inner peace.  I know that the clients that I am seeing now are meant to be with me.  I know in my heart that we are perfect matches and that I will be guided to give them the exact care that they need.  Between my years of experience and skill, while guided by the universe, I am right where I am supposed to be and doing exactly what I am supposed to be doing.  I am doing what I love: running in the morning and being the best social worker I can be! I am blessed.

I have been really thinking about refocusing  when it comes to my weight.  Really allowing the focus on health, and nourishment.  When I am doing all sorts of tracking, measuring, and weighing, it makes me focus on trying to control it.  Makes me think, how much more can I eat and it not effect my weight.   How many calories can I get in ? What can I eat to fill this empty hole inside. Of which has nothing to do with my stomach or hunger but All to do with my heart and head.

Dream Intending

Did you ever Dream Intend?  I just started a 30 Day LOA challenge.  The challenge has you focusing on different things throughout the day.  Before you go to bed, you read a "Segment intend the sleep and dream period".  The passage states: "I believe I will dream tonight. I will manifest while I sleep, and if there is anything significant, I intend to recall it when I awaken" (paraphrased).  So, before I went to sleep, I made my dream intentions.  The next thing that happened was that in the middle of the night my 8 year old son came into my bed (this is the very usual part of the story), and he said to me, "Mom, I just had the best dream about you!" He just warmed my heart!!!

This morning when I woke up I remembered that I had a dream about a shit tzu dog.  They are my absolute favorite dog breed.  In the dream the dog and I just adored each other.  Someone in the dream said to me "Do you know how to take care of Shit Tzus?"  I replied, "I sure do!"  Years ago I had a shit tzu named Vickey.  I wouldn't be surprised if it was her that came to visit me in my intended dream!

What will be your dream intentions tonight?

What do you give Energy to?

When I work with my clients we do a lot around the Law of Attraction (LOA).  The energy you put out is the energy you get back.  In other words, if you give off negative energy, you will receive negative energy.  Make sense?  Then when something "bad" happens (although I am  not sure "bad" things happen, as everything happens for a reason), we can reflect back and ask ourselves, "How did I attract ________ to my life".  Sometimes it takes some figuring out, other times it comes easy.

When I have a client that is in the process of dating and looking for the "right" mate, I ask them, "So what do you want?".  And we make a list of all the traits and delicious things that they want to get from their next date.....  Then after the dates we focus on what was good about the date and focus on that for the next time and then the next time......  WE Have such GREAT Results!!!

Bad Things Happening? No Worries

Everyone goes through bad times... but here is the good news, bad times always come to an end.  And the other good news, when things are not going our way, it gives us clarity of what we do want.  For example, when I was a young Social Worker, I really wanted to work with woman who were victims of Domestic Violence.  I was thrilled when I got a part time job at a safe house.  I did not like the job at all.  It was not for me!!!  So then I got more clarity of what I did want to do.  I tried working part time with individuals who had suffered a Traumatic Brain Injury.... now that felt right.  I liked.  So I did more of that work, and I liked it..... you see.... sometimes when things are not going your way, think to yourself, So What do I want?????  Knowing what you don't want is half the battle figuring out what you do want.

If you need some help with this, feel free to call and set up an appointment.  631 742 8729

My Deliberate Attracting

How I have been noticing the Law of Attraction Working in my Life this  Past summer:

My deliberate attracting….

About 3.5 years ago my husband and I were at EPCOT.  When we got off the Test Track ride there was this most beautiful car displayed in the lobby as you exit.  I said, “Wow, this is gorgeous!”.  I looked inside and out, sat in the car, touched everything etc.  I turned to our friend who works at Disney and I said, “what kind of car is this???”  It was a brand new Cadillac Crossover.  My husband was walking a way and couldn’t be bothered.  I could only imagine what he was thinking to himself, “If I walk away now, she will follow, and she won’t want that car, I am off the hook”.  I never stopped thinking about that car.

Fast forward: When I meditate, at the end of my meditations, I visualize myself in the Cadillac, the smell, the look, the feel, etc.  However, at the same time send out good vibes for my current car, which I love and it has absolutely nothing wrong with it.  It’s a 2010 Subaru Outback, black and in perfect running order.  I say to the universe, I really want the new car, however, nothing is wrong with my current car, but I trust that it will happen.  I had put my order in.  Sometimes when I was on the road and I would see the car, I would have a moment of worry that I would have a car accident with my current car, or something bad would happen.  I would then immediately change my thoughts to just pure attraction.  Then whenever I saw any Cadillac on the road, I would look at that beautiful Cadillac symbol and attract more of the same.

My husband is the money manager in our household.  Cars are not important to him in the least.  He is also a very practical buyer.  Whenever the topic of cars came up, I would slip in, I really want a Cadillac.  I think he would just roll his eyes at me.  Then this summer, something changed, and he started showing some interest.  He would look up the prices in the paper, he was open to talking to me about it, there started to be some movement.  I started jumping out of my skin!  I was getting beyond excited.  About two weeks ago I said to him, “ can we just go for a test drive, you know, I never even drove one, I might not even like it”.  He agreed, but said, “I am not ready to buy anything now”.

The next day I was driving my Brand New Gorgeous Blue Cadillac!  When I traded in my Subaru, I sent it good vibes and wished that it would serve another family as well as it served ours, as it was a really good car.

Last week my favorite author, Michael Losier , made a video about Law of attraction and the game Kerplunk! I looked on amazon and it was $35!!!! No way was I going to spend that! Today while walking around kohl's buying christmas PJ's for the family, what did I see on a random bottom shelf? Kerplunk!!! How much you ask???? $10!!! Boy I attracted a good one! Thanks again Michael Losier !
Check out his Video... He is awesome at explaining the Law of Attraction!!!

Being in the Vortex!

Most people that know me, have heard me talking about being "in the Vortex".  So what does that mean? For me,  it means being in that very content place.  You are calm on the inside, even when you are excited, nervous, worried, etc. on the outside. It means being in the present moment and enjoying it.

This goes back to the Law of Attraction, which I learned from my favorite author,  Michael Losier.   I also have studied a lot of the work done by Abraham-Hicks.  The vibe/energy that you put out, is what you get back.  Some people call it karma.  This is the very very short version and explanation.   My point of bringing this up is because the other night we saw some musicians that were so "in the vortex" you could see it and feel it!

The Piano Guys  played the other night on Long Island.  These guys were so into their music and so well bonded to one another, you couldn't help but feel good.  Basically it's these guys that play a cello and piano, simple right? No, they took it to another whole creative level.  They use the instruments like drums, they put pianos on cliffs, moving trains, on top of the Great Wall of China, etc.

Do something today that will put you in your Vortex!

Fixing Problems... How? Why?

I can't fix your problems.  I don't have all the answers.  There is no magic pill.
My job is to help you help you.

Sometimes people don't see the purpose of talking about their problems... "it only makes me feel worse", "I don't see how talking about it can help", etc.

Well maybe you haven't had the right therapist or a trained counselor.  My job is to give you feedback, suggestions and sometimes just a nonjudgmental listening ear.  I am trained to know when to talk and when to listen.  I am trained to not tell you what to do, but help guide you in figuring out what you want to do.  Sometimes my job is just help give you confidence to make positive changes in your life.

If you have something bothering you, and it's not going away, don't suffer with the emotional baggage.  Get yourself a professional therapist that can help you to help yourself in this journey.

Life is meant to be enjoyed, not endured.

Why Pay it Forward???

Every once and a while you hear of a "random act of kindness" (RAC).  I remember my mom telling me last year that after the shooting in CT  people were doing RAC's and someone bought my sister coffee or McDonalds, or something, I really didn't pay it much mind.  I said, "oh that's nice mom, I hear people doing that".... blah, blah, blah.......I don't ever think of myself as a recipient of RAC, I think of myself as needing to be the giver of RAC.  That's what I do.  I am a Social Worker after all, I give and give and give.  And I LOVE giving. It's just who I am and what I do.

Then yesterday things changed for me.  I took a quick break from work to get some caffeine, I was just dragging and needed a quick pick me up.  I went to the local drive thru Starbucks, ordered my favorite drink (the one I try to quit all the time), Grande Chi Tea Latte.  The young man at the window looked me in the eye and said to me "today is your lucky day".  He went on to tell me that the nice lady ahead of me bought my tea for me.  I was floored.  I said to the kid, "Are you messing with me????".  It reminded me of the day when the first boy asked me out in front of the 8th grade Art class and I thought he was messing with me and I laughed in his face.  I really could not believe it.  Then when I finally accepted the drink and started to drive off, all I wanted to do was Thank the person who bought it for me..... I was left with such mixed emotion.  Grateful, blessed, stunned and then empty because I couldn't properly thank the person.

So what did I do?  What I do often, I brought it to FB.  I announced the big RAC!  The post received over 60 likes within hours.  When we click the like button, its the fleeting second that we identify with the post, the post touches us in some way or we just simply "like" it.  So this simple RAC that this "nice lady" in front of me did, not only touched me, but another 60+ people!  Wow! Who knew a $4.00 drink can have such a positive impact on so many people.

This certainly  has motivated me to pay it forward and I hope that it inspires you to do the same this holiday season!
